Take your uke to the next level!

With Sarah W
Are you ready to dispel all your limiting beliefs about not being a musician? I have been teaching ukulele to people all over the world for the last 5 years after a chance jamming session in Argentina where I stumbled across this beautiful instrument. It's changed my life - a portable joy and happiness I can take with me anywhere - and I know it will change yours too! Two years ago I set up my company Power of Uke and since then I've taught in over 30 companies including Google, Innocent and Financial Times where I turned even the most resolute non-musicians into headlining rock stars within a matter of hours. I have a 100% success rate of getting anyone to play 4 chords in 5 minutes. This is ukulele but with a twist - we make it fun and cheeky, playing current belters and old time classics - mixing up a bit of 90s RnB with some Sia, some Mumford and Sons with Disney, or perhaps writing our own original number! I'm a qualified secondary school music teacher so there is some serious pedagogy informing every class. And having started with career with 12 year olds I am VERY PATIENT. I love seeing people ''get it'' and feel new found success in their creativity. I've also been writing and performing comedy on the ukulele for the last two years reaching the quarter finals of the Musical Comedy Awards and the Semi Finals of the Funny Women Awards.  As well as running workshops and meet ups on the ukulele I organise comedy nights, retreats and DJ. I can't wait to play music with you!

All popular styles covered, including musical theatre, all levels welcome

With Olga B
A versatile vocalist specialising in pop, rock, jazz, soul, alternative, trip hop , funk and blues as well as musical theatre and cross over genres, Olga has been a vocalist and violinist since she was 7 years old, participating over the years in classical, folk and rock choirs, opera ensembles, orchestras and musical theatre performances.    Olga has extensive experience as a session singer, as a songwriter and as a performer along with her experience as an ensemble/band leader and violinist. Furthermore she has trained in Popular Vocal Performance and Production at The London Centre of Contemporary Music in London where she was awarded a BMUS (Hons) and in music pedagogy at Middlesex University, London where she was awarded The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)in Music.    Upon watching Olga perform one is instantly allured by her expressive vocal and the vulnerable yet tempestuous honesty with which she expresses the lyrics making each song her own.Having a 3 octave range and having received training in various styles of music along with years of experience, Olga can adapt to a variety of genres and sing in the original style of the piece, improvise or re-arrange a song into something completely new and unexpected.Olga also teaches small workshops (pop/rock bands and choirs) and works as a vocal coach on a one-to-one basis.    She has proven adept in helping people with vocal problems or vocal strain, having suffered from GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) and a resulting nodule herself in the past and having not only sung professionally and taught despite her vocal problems but also overcome them. The lessons focus on relaxing the throat, tongue, jaw and body, finding vocal freedom, resonance and power through mastering and understanding technique and breathing while also nourishing expression and diversity through studying a variety of styles and unlocking each individual's original voice, steering away from mimicking the original artist or karaoke type singing.  Olga believes that anyone can sing and that the key is to help her students get in touch with their true selves and with their honest expression. She often uses yoga and meditation techniques as well as some simple acting exercises in order to help her students "unlock" their emotions and unleash their voice.   Finally Olga also has substantial experience working with children and teenagers in a secondary music classroom and extra curricular activities (including choir, orchestra and rock band). She has helped teenagers find their voice and broaden their tastes to other styles of music, prepare for auditions and boost their creativity with songwriting lessons. She has even helped people acquire a sense of pitch and musicality from scratch. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica; color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica; color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000; min-height: 13.0px} span.s1 {font-kerning: none} After 10 years of training and working in the popular music scene, Olga has recently resumed her training in classical singing in order to expand her skills further.
