With Ruth Loten
I am a former teacher, who has taught pupils from Year 3 to Year 13. I have also done private tutoring at primary level and for both GCSE and A-level. In 2014 I gave up teaching to concentrate on writing children's books and since then I have published 2 full length novels (out of a planned series of 7) as well as some shorter books. I have always been creative in my spare time, mainly focusing on cross stitch and embroidery and have now started a small business online, selling the things I have designed and created. If you would like to see a sample of my work, have a look at my profile page on Amazon for the books (just search for R E Loten) or on my Facebook page (Bratislavan Cactus). There is also a separate Facebook for the craft side of things, which is listed below.

My name is Rhiannon and I am a third generation crafter. Originally I went to school for art history, all the while crafting. Eventually I had enough of studying other people's work and instead wanted to make my own and empower others to do the same.  I consider myself to be the "Swiss Army Knife" of crafters. I have delved into nearly every craft and love passing this knowledge onto my students. For these reasons I have a diverse range of crafts I can teach, including: knitting, crochet, embroidery, hairpin lace, needle felting, and shuttle tatting. In addition to my passion for a variety of crafts, I also love teaching a variety of skill levels, from students beginning their first stitch to someone who wants to redesign a pattern.  With a positive attitude and a willingness to learn I can teach you any of a variety of crafts.

Teaching is a wonderful extension of my work as a professional crochet and knit designer and technical editor. A web search will reveal some of my published work over the last decade. As a craft teacher in the NYC area for over 8 years, I have worked with individuals, groups and classes of all ages and skill levels.  For creative people and makers, crafting is like going to the gym. You will find great fulfilment and a sense of accomplishment if you set aside time on a regular basis to nurture this very important part of what makes you who you are. Think of me like a personal trainer. I will encourage and inspire you while you develop your skills and express yourself through a variety of textile based media. My focus is on providing an entertaining, relaxing and enjoyable experience as you learn a leisure time activity. I am extremely patient and detail oriented. When you let me know what you would like to learn or make, I will guide you through everything from selecting materials to fine tuning your technique. Take a lesson with me to find out why my students love me.
