Below are some testimonials by pupils about their lessons with me: do have a read to get a flavour of what my teaching sessions and results are like.
"As someone who would only sing after a pint of beer or two (but unfailingly so), my singing voice needed all the help it could get. Luckily, since knocking on the door of his flat around nine months ago, Justin's lessons have taken me from daring barely to hum in public to a happy and confident singer. As an experienced teacher, Justin provides a warm and structured environment that puts you at ease from the start while challenging you to stretch yourself every lesson. His lessons develop technique and musicianship in equal parts and bring across not only the fundamentals of singing but a love and understanding of music. I look forward to our lessons every week and couldn't recommend him highly enough!"
"I've been taking piano lessons with Justin for around 3 months now. When I started, I literally didn't know anything; after the first 2 months of learning how to "walk", I'm starting to read and play songs with two hands, something I always thought would be unachievable for me! And here I am, looking forward to the next class. Justin is the perfect tutor/teacher/mentor: passionate about his job, patient (and with me you need a lot!), understanding, funny and most of all humble.
I highly recommend Justin if you are thinking to take up piano lessons: well worth every penny!"
"After singing in choirs most of my life, I decided that I really ought to get my technique properly sorted out! Justin has a great ability to help you find the minute adjustments you need to make both to improve your sound quality and to make singing less effort. I certainly feel I'm being stretched at times, but never more than I'm comfortable with, and I really notice the improvements that technique makes in choir rehearsals. Having such a professional accompanist to practice pieces with is a real treat too!"
"In the four or so months I’ve taken piano with Justin, I can see and hear a massive improvement in my playing – not just in technical skill but in really listening and feeling for a piece. He really encourages you to work on any weaknesses and I feel much more confident in my own strengths. I’m always amazed at how fast a lesson flies by! Very glad I decided to take up lessons with Justin."
"I was very lucky to find Justin to accompany my 10 year old daughter Marie for her grade 3 violin exam. Justin is a good pianist, but more than that, he is an inspiring music teacher. I appreciated the way he taught Marie to enjoy the music and helped her to gain confidence. Each practice session was hard work, but Justin made the repetitions so enjoyable! Now the violin exam is done, Marie would like to learn piano with Justin too..."
Text from Cecile after result of distinction received:-
"30/30 puttin on the Ritz, 28/30 the two other pieces! Big Big thank you, we won't be able to achieve this without you!"
"Justin's personal, tailored approach to piano tuition turns the often difficult task of learning to play into a joy. His passion for music shines bright in everything."
Chris Coco: Music Curator / DJ / Producer - Radio Melodica
"I really enjoy my singing lessons with Justin. He is an intelligent and intuitive teacher who listens to my concerns and responds flexibly, adapting the exercises and repertoire to challenge me. He is able to push me to improve without it feeling scary - and he gives lots of positive feedback. It's always a pleasure. I recommend him enthusiastically."
"I enjoy my piano lessons with Justin. As well as having brilliant musical skills, he is a good teacher, patient and with a nice sense of humour. "
Peter E., Stockwell

Many people describe their biggest regret as not continuing with music lessons...
With Daniel Nicholson I am a pianist and piano teacher currently based in London. I gained Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama between the years of 2007-13 receiving world class training and invaluable experience as a teacher and performer. Accomplishments include twice being a national competition finalist and successfully presenting postgraduate research into the psychological effects of specialised music education in a London seminar before graduating.
For the last 3 years I have been based in SW London where I have established myself as a teacher of piano, jazz piano, music theory and composition. I also am a regular ballet pianist, accompanist and soloist and have worked in a large variety of settings as a musician ranging from live radio broadcast to exam accompaniment. More recently I have collated all teaching and performing work under the business name 'Cadenza Music' (more extensive information can be viewed on the website). It is with this name that in 2017 I will begin setting up a small music school in Cardiff which will also include online tuition from a fully equipped home studio.
